A Dairy Story & Q&A at Cameo Picturehouse
Hosted By Lorna YoungA Green Screen event marking the official release of independent Scottish farming documentary, A Dairy Story. Should a newborn dairy calf be separated from its mother? It’s the most divisive question in dairy farming. At Rainton Farm in south-west Scotland, one couple decided to do things differently, abandoning conventional methods to become the first farm in Europe to make a cow-with-calf dairy system commercially viable. What begins as a question of animal welfare opens into climate, environment, and ultimately something far more personal: a story about change, about trusting nature, and about the time we have together. Post-screening Q&A is hosted by Peter Stevenson, Chief Policy Advisor at Compassion in World Farming, in discussion with the film subjects, David Finlay and Charles Ellett. They'll also be joined by Fred Berkmiller, chef patron of Edinburgh's l'escargot bleu, and by Charlie Buchanan-Smith of The Free Company, the Michelin Green Star regenerative farm and restaurant at the foot of the Pentlands.
