DATE PASSEDHosted By Julia BregeronGaumont Anniversary Screening & Intro By Sue Harris On The Glories Of Gaumont. The story of a film star (Michel Blanc) whose life comes undone when he is upstaged by a look-alike intent on the star’s very persona. The actor becomes enmeshed in a web of fantastic predicaments before he can see clearly through the usurper’s designs. A fight to the death ensues between the two men… Blanc is adept at playing himself and his tormented and tormenting look-alike – it’s as if Blanc were revealing the bad as well as the good sides of his own psyche. He is also able to draw sparkling portrayals from others, especially the charming, unself-conscious Bouquet. In tribute to Michel Blanc who died earlier this year. Language: In French with English subtitles. “A pitch-black comedy on the perils of fame.” Los Angeles Times
