We’re excited to bring Brother — one of the most talked‑about new Polish films — to Scotland’s most iconic cinema. From the moment it was announced, Brother drew major attention for its screenplay by Maciej Sobieszczański and Grzegorz Puda. Even before production began, the script won the 14th Krzysztof Kieślowski ScripTeast Award, celebrating the best scripts from Eastern Europe and signalling the film’s exceptional potential. Upon release, Brother made a remarkable impact at the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia: • Best Acting Debut for Filip Wiłkomirski • Nominations for Best Film, Best Director and Best Producer At the 41st Warsaw International Film Festival, the film received the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury and a nomination for the Warsaw Grand Prix, highlighting its universal resonance. At EnergaCAMERIMAGE, Brother was nominated for the prestigious Golden Frog, recognising the exceptional cinematography of Jolanta Dylewska. The film also earned Polish Film Awards (Orły) nominations for Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay. Brother is a raw, intimate story of two boys forced to grow up too quickly, a mother fighting to break free from a violent past, and the fragile hope that survives in the harshest circumstances. The film features extraordinary performances by Agnieszka Grochowska, Julian Świeżewski, Tomasz Schuchardt, Jacek Braciak, and two remarkable newcomers — Filip Wiłkomirski and Tytus Szymczuk. Join us at Cameo Cinema to experience this award‑winning film on the big screen. Everyone welcome. Supported by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh and Polish Film Festival Kinoteka.
