The Leith Kino film collective are delighted to be launching our new weekly film night at Leith Depot with Japanese experimental classic Funeral Parade of Roses from 1969. The film shines a spotlight on the ‘gay boy’ subculture of late-1960s Japan, specifically the gender-nonconforming hostesses of a Tokyo gay bar. At times shocking and surreal, Funeral Parade of Roses is a landmark film in both Japanese New Wave and queer cinema. "A kaleidoscopic masterpiece, and one of the most subversive, intoxicating films of the 60s." (BFI) Tickets cost £5 and we have allocated handful of free tickets for those not in a position to pay. Leith Kino Access Information - English subtitles will be onscreen for every screening, including descriptive captions where possible. - The screening room is on ground level and is wheelchair accessible from the Leith Depot bar with flexible seating to accomodate specific requirements. - There are accessible toilets in both the screening room and the bar. Leith Depot is well-served by public transport.
