Pepos (1983)
Hosted By Leith KinoGuillo and Viejo Loco, two young men from downtown Bogotá, roam the city day and night. Their journey blends playfulness with resourcefulness. In this ambiguity of purpose, they encounter corner friends, a concert, obstacles, various psychoactives, authority, violence, and a reign. These delirious encounters slowly build a distorted reality that oscillates between fantasy, urban squalor, rock, comedy, and absurdity. Pepos is a vivid psychedelic portrait of the spirit of a generation, capturing the hopes, frustrations, and chaos of youth growing up in a country undergoing the boom of drug trafficking and experiencing one of its worst periods of violence and state corruption. Pepos still pulses with the same strength and rebellion with which it was conceived, serving as a vanguard document both in form and theme. This film will be presented with English subtitles.
