Come and feel the post-Halloween comedown here at Leith Kino with Billy Tang's 1993 exploitation thriller RUN AND KILL! During the late 1980s and 1990s, Hong Kong saw a slew of films which sought to push various taboos to the foreground through playing into the country's 'Category III' rating, introduced in 1988. Billy Tang was one of the prime figures during this wave of extreme Hong Kong cinema, and RUN AND KILL is one of the most singular, bizarre, and unique films released during this period. When family man Cheung ‘Fatty’ Kau Ng (Kent Cheng) orders a hit on his cheating wife during a night of heavy drinking, he sets off a chain reaction of disastrous, and increasingly violent events. Beginning as a dark comedy before mutating into a nightmarish cat-and-mouse thriller, RUN AND KILL is a constantly shifting, tonally unpredictable, and often unforgettable work of Hong-Kong exploitation cinema. The film will be presented with English subtitles. Content Warnings: Graphic violence, sexual assault, alcohol abuse, child murder All tickets £6. We have also allocated a number of free tickets (available on our Ticketlab site) for those not in a position to pay. If you would like to help support our free ticket initiative, you can pay it forward (also available on our Ticketlab site). Leith Kino! A weekly community cinema night based at Leith Depot.
