Edinburgh Spanish Film Festival comes to the GCP with this Basque crime thriller from director Arantxa Echevarría. Based on the real-life story of Aranzazu Berradre Marín, the pseudonym for the only police officer in Spanish history to successfully infiltrate ETA, the Basque-nationalist terrorist group. Undercover, she lurks in ETA-affiliated circles. Suddenly, the unimaginable happens - ETA contacts her, requesting her to be an accomplice in the preparation of oncoming attacks. What ensues is an experience nobody could have prepared her for, and the film undertakes these complex, polemic issues, exploring both the political history of the terrorist group and this woman’s sacrifice for her role in helping dismantle them. Content warning: Contains scenes depicting murder, physical and verbal violence, verbal misogyny and strong emotional distress. Tickets £3/£5/£7 on a sliding scale, with free entry for Grassmarket Community Project Members, open door meal attendees, and anyone else in need of a free ticket.
