Old Horizons in Audio-Visual Entertainment, Live! From VHS! Free! NIGHT SCREAMS (1987) is a fun, nonsense 80s slasher out of Wichita, Kansas featuring Bobby from The Karate Kid. Originally padded out to 88 minutes through insertion of lengthy excerpts from other films, the UK vhs edit runs a lean 74 minutes, but still finds room for a dance number from the opening-titles-credited Sweetheart Dancers that does not advance the plot in any way. SISTERS (1972) is Brian de Palma's (Carrie, The Phantom of The Paradise) first thriller, a dizzying Hitchcock homage with conjoined twins, some split-screen and some lurid Giallo-style killings. Originally censored by the BBFC on cinema release, this 1980s vhs has had the cuts restored.
