Post-festival, we're back exploring old horizons in audio-visual entertainment, Live! From VHS! Free! UNINVITED is a movie that makes several puzzling decisions, not least of which was being a killer cat movie which is also a monster movie, like a version of Alien in which Jonesy takes the John Hurt role. Also they set it on a fairly small yacht. You might think it would be easy to avoid a cat on a small yacht, but this film says you'd be wrong, and sets out to prove it via the medium of puppetry and fake blood. Those teenagers are going to regret (checks notes) hitching a ride to a tax haven with a shady financier! DOLLMAN is an Albert Pyun/ Charles Band direct-to-video action film in which hardass space cop Brick Bardo is transported to the South Bronx in the early 90s, but on earth he's, well, the size of a doll. The poster says 13 inches and given the extraordinary power of his gun, I won't argue with it. He lands in a rough neighbourhood just begging for a tough guy to sort it out, but his nemesis Sprug is also there, and will certainly cause trouble for Bardo. It's a movie that knows how ridiculous its premise is and doesn't let a little thing like "having no money" get in the way of its ambition. Plus, his gun makes people explode.
