Join Leith Kino for a screening of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007), the hilarious parody of formulaic rags-to-riches musician biopics that follows fictional rocker Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly) on his tumultuous journey through stardom. Haunted by childhood tragedy, Dewey must navigate evolving musical styles, rocky romantic relationships, and the temptations of doing every drug known to man. Released a handful of years after biopic hits such as Ray and Walk the Line, Walk Hard still feels relevant to the current, ongoing trend cycle of self-serious, rise-and-fall musician films (it would make A Complete Unknown shudder).
