Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) - Screening
Hosted By Leith KinoLife made him tough. Love made him strong. Music made him hard. Join Leith Kino for a screening of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007), the hilarious parody of formulaic rags-to-riches musician biopics that follows fictional rocker Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly) on his tumultuous journey through stardom. Haunted by childhood tragedy, Dewey must navigate evolving musical styles, rocky romantic relationships, and the temptations of doing every drug known to man. Released a handful of years after biopic hits such as Ray and Walk the Line, Walk Hard still feels relevant to the current, ongoing trend cycle of self-serious, rise-and-fall musician films (it would make A Complete Unknown shudder). With a relentless jokes-per-minute rate, belly laughs are guaranteed as you follow Dewey Cox through triumph and tragedy. “The Sixties are an important and exciting time!” Tickets cost £5 and we have allocated handful of free tickets for those not in a position to pay. Please support your local Leith Kino! Drinks and refreshments are available to purchase at the Depot bar, alongside our monthly posters, each designed by a different Leith-based artist.
